An-Nasr is translated literally as “The Help”. Abdullah Ibn Abbas (ra) states that this is the last Surah of the Quran revealed by Allah (swt), i. e. no complete Surah was sent down to the Holy Prophet (saw) after it. Allah (swt) in this Surah had informed His Messenger (saw) that when Islam attained complete victory in Arabia and the people started entering Allah's religion in multitude, it would mean that the mission for which he had been sent to the world had been fulfilled. Then, he was enjoined to busy himself in praising and glorifying Allah by Whose bounty he had been able to accomplish such a great task, and should implore Him to forgive whatever failings and frailties he might have shown in the performance of the service. The Messenger of Allah in a brief span of 23 years revolutionized an entire nation as regards its beliefs, thoughts, customs, morals, civilization, ways of living, economy, politics and fighting ability, and raising it from ignorance and barbarism, enabled it to conquer the world and become the leader of nations.

The meaning of the title of this Surah as well as the message it contains is meaningful and germane to the essence and purpose of this organization for the following reasons:

1. Firstly, from the meaning of the title, “The Help”, this organization implores the help of Allah (swt) so that we can help bring about the desired reforms in our society. It is the sincere intent of this organization to take the necessary steps to bring about the change within ourselves and our community so that we can truly become a people deserving of An-Nasrullah. Furthermore, we may never be befitting of the title "ansar" in its original context in Islamic History, but we'll try our very best to help in any shape or form. In that sense, as mere "helpers" for social reform, we aspire to be “ansar” or “helpers”.

2. Second, from the first ayah which speaks of “The Victory”, it evokes a sense of hope in the hearts of the believers. It is the necessary consequence when the help of Allah (swt) does descend upon a nation – a genuine victory indeed. There is no better motivation for this organization than hope. Hope of bringing about reform, hope for forgiveness and mercy, and hope for living under the shade of Islam. It’s the flame that burns inside us.

3. Lastly, the surah shows the kind of revolution that takes place when Islam enters upon and is integrated in a particular nation or community. It permeates in every facet of human life. It changes the minutest detail in the lifestyle of the individual to the broader perspective of governance, politics and economy. This is the kind of revolution that our organization aspire for.
